KITULO NATIONAL PARK
The garden of God
Kitulo National Park is a protected area of mountain grassland on the Kitulo Plateau in the southern highlands of Tanzania. The park is at an elevation of 2.600 metres (8,500 ft) between the peaks of the Kipengere and Poroto mountains and covers an area of 412.9 square kilometres.
Kitulo is a unique piece of land. The chilly, high plateau is a vast open grassland that stretches away for kilometer after kilometer. It is hard to believe that you are in equatorial Africa as the area is more reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands.
The Kitulo plateau is one of the great floral spectacles of the word because of that the botanist call it “The Serengeti of flowers” while the local people call it “The Garden of God”.
The best time to visit Kitulo is from November to May.
